pizza and movies

Last night was very different from anything we have ever done before. My son's girlfriend was over and my brother had his daughter. I made pizzas and we all sat down and watched some movies together!! Wow, never dreamed that would happen! We all had a good time and I am very thankful that we get to do that. I hope there are many more in the future.

So spring is here! That means I am sneezing and my eyes are itching like crazy, but the flowers are blooming and the birds are singing. It is time to cut the grass and plant the garden. Time for walks in the evening and sitting out under the stars with a nice cold glass of iced sweet tea. I am almost in the mood for baking again. I have thought about taking up the hobby of canning. If anyone out there knows anything about it, can you give me some helpful hints?? It seems a little overwhelming right now! Thank you and enjoy your day!

Mornings with a grumpy girl

Our local library decided to take a three day weekend for the new year. Thats fine, only my daughter and I were headed to the library that weekend. Last weekend we decided to go to the library. Again, they were closed for a three day weekend for Martin Luther King, Jr day. I don't know about you, but trying to explain to my ten year old Autistic daughter why they needed a three day weekend for all holidays was proving to be difficult seeing as I didn't understand it myself. When she got up this morning she declared we would go to the library tonight because she knows they will be closed on Saturday. The library has no idea how a ten year old can put you in your place and they may find out on our next visit. I just never know what will come out of her mouth! The only problem is, we can't go tonight because her daddy takes the van to work in the evenings. This is going to be a rough evening and I pray the library will be open saturday. I will keep everyone posted! Anyone have any experience with this?

Teenage boys!

My son is 15 and thinks that he rules the world. He is a great kid and I am lucky that he is not into anything "bad". However, his attitude needs some adjusting. He is "dating" a fourteen year old girl and expects to spend time with her often. My standing rule, is no dating until you are 16. He has known this since a young age. So why is he questioning that now? He questions everything! I do allow his "girlfriend" to come over to the house, however they have to stay upstairs. They are not allowed to go into his bedroom. We dont have a tiny house, and the living room is large enough with a big screen so why complain? I hear all the time how things are different from when I was young but kids are still kids, right?! He acts like I was never 15. Just wondering, how do you feel about kids these days?

Life with Autism

I have a ten year old autistic daughter. She is so funny at times but she can also be tempermental. Right now we are dealing with her wanting to use cuss words. This is proving to be quite the challenge! Although it is often amusing, it is still not the language I wish my beautiful little girl to use! Anyone that can offer some insight would be greatly appreciated.
